Surveillance Areas
GERMS-SA receives isolates from approximately 270 private, public, military and mining hospital laboratories within the Republic of South Africa. Thirteen sites in 9 provinces of South Africa currently participate in an active enhanced (sentinel site) surveillance program, where additional clinical data are collected from selected cases according to a standardised case report form by our on-site Surveillance Officers.
