Recurrent disease: any case meeting the above criteria that yields a positive laboratory test 21 days after a previous positive test. |

Recurrent disease: any case meeting the above criteria that yields a positive laboratory test 30 days after a previous positive test OR any case meeting the above criteria that has been discharged and readmitted, regardless of the time interval between discharge and readmission (for selected cases at enhanced surveillance sites). |
