National Microbiology Surveillance Unit

Overview

The National Microbiology Surveillance Unit (NMSU) was established in January 2006, within the Microbiology Division of the National Institute for Communicable Diseases.

The NMSU coordinates the GERMS-SA surveillance programme, working closely with reference laboratory units at the NICD (Enteric Diseases Reference Unit, Mycology Reference Unit, Parasitology Reference Unit, and Respiratory and Meningeal Pathogens Reference Unit).
