The National Health Laboratory Service recognised on world stage

“The nomination serves as recognition and affirmation of the NHLS’ position as a leader in pathology and diagnostic services on the African continent.”

The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) has been nominated by the Swiss Institute for Quality Standards (SIQS) and the Socrates Committee for the prestigious international award in ‘European Quality’ in the healthcare sphere category, which will be presented at Montreux, Switzerland during the Summit Excellence in Quality from 30 June – 2 July 2015.

These awards are hosted with the aim to spread the Swiss Quality concept and implement advanced quality standards, and for the NHLS this nomination is in recognition of the safe and effective treatment methods, the highly professional medical staff and services quality in accordance to the European standards.

Ms Joyce Mogale-the interim CEO of the NHLS, mentioned that, “it is with great honour and pride for the NHLS to be nominated for this prestigious award, as it not only represents the organisation, but depicts the great strides and continuous improvements, which the South African healthcare landscape has made over the years, and also attributes to the overwhelming dedication and commitment of the NHLS staff.”

This international recognition would not be a first for the NHLS, as the organisation was awarded with the 2013 Business Initiative Directions (BID) International Star Award for quality. This award was presented to the NHLS for the demonstrated and proven commitment to quality and for the continuous quest for excellence, towards customers through attention to products and services.
