No cases of Ebola in South Africa

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) can confirm that in South Africa, there is no case of Ebola nor has the NICD been asked to test for a suspected sample of Ebola from neighbouring countries.

The NICD houses the only biosafety level 4 laboratory for Southern Africa to diagnose Ebola. The NICD, in addition, understands that countries, from time to time, perform Ebola Virus Disease simulation exercises to test their preparedness for disease outbreaks and threats.
