The purpose of this document is to outline the strategic framework to prevent, reduce and control the development of Health-Care associated infections (HAI’S) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), ultimately improving patient safety and health outcomes. This document is aligned to the Guidelines for the Prevention and Containment of AMR in South African Hospitals (2018)11 produced by the Ministerial Advisory Committee on AMR.
